Hailed as a ‘world expert’ by Dr. Mehmet Oz on the Dr. Oz Show, Dr. Pina LoGiudice is truly a well-recognized expert in the field of natural medicine.
Dr. LoGiudice graduated from Bastyr University, the leading accredited university for science-based natural medicine. She completed five years of training in naturopathic medicine and acupuncture.
Before naturopathic school, she received her Bachelor’s degree and completed her pre-medical studies at the University of Rochester. Dr. LoGiudice then went on as a pre-doctoral fellow at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland. In the clinical neuroendocrinology branch of the Institute of Mental Health at NIH, she researched the mechanisms of mind-body neuro-hormonal regulation. After medical school, Dr. LoGiudice completed a specialty internship in pediatric medicine and women’s health.
“Dr. Pina,” as her patients call her, is a founder and director of InnerSource Natural Health and Acupuncture, a thriving practice with clinics in New York City and Long Island. Dr. LoGiudice was pre-doctoral fellow at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the Department of Clinical Neuroendocrinology where she studied the basis of stress and the mind-body connection.
After her research at the NIH, she pursued her doctorate at Bastyr University, the leading institution for science-based natural medicine where she received her doctorate in naturopathic medicine and masters degree in acupuncture.
Dr. Pina has authored chapters about women’s and pediatric health in the text Healing Depression (CCNM Press). Dr. LoGiudice is a co-author in the third edition of the Textbook of Natural Medicine and recently authored an original chapter on Pregnancy and Primary Prevention for the fourth edition of the Textbook of Natural Medicine (Elsevier) where she teaches other physicians how to prevent disease in the next generation by modifying the prenatal environment through natural means. She co-authored the book Natural Antibiotics.
Dr. Pina is a member of the Holistic Moms Association, Holistic Pediatric Association, American Association for Naturopathic Physicians and is a Diplomat in Acupuncture. She is a past board member, secretary and Vice-President of the New York Association of Naturopathic Physicians.
She enjoys working her patients in many aspects for women’s health. She especially enjoys helping each woman prepare her body for pregnancy and works extensively with naturopathic and Chinese medicines for children’s health.
She is married to fellow naturopathic doctor and husband Dr. Peter Bongiorno (www.drpeterbongiorno.com). With daughter Sophia born in April of 2008, Dr. Pina enjoys being a holistic mom, creating meals at home, and experiencing different cuisines with her husband. She also likes to travel to new places and exercise.
